Heather is the co-owner, director, and lead choreographer for Dance Specialties in North Carolina, which was named one of the Top 10 Studios in the Southeast Region by the Federation of Dance Competitions in 2010. Dance Specialties has also been recognized with the ‘Studio Excellence Award” for the past several years and was recognized as one of the Top 50 Studios in the country in 2009. She is a nationally recognized dance instructor trained in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Contemporary, and Hip Hop. Her choreography and dancers have been showcased both regionally and nationally, winning top prestigious awards. In her spare time, Heather works locally with her community High School dance teams and has also worked with many collegiate level dance teams, such as the University of Mississippi. Most of her students continue their dance education by being involved with their University Dance Teams nationwide, as well as holding National and State Titles in the pageant circuit. Heather’s love for dance has led her to a successful career in dance instruction. She feels that she can make every child a “star” by giving them the proper training, love, and encouragement necessary to help each student to reach their potential.
Kelsey is a former member of the Dance Specialties competition team. She is also a former captain and founding member of the South Point Dance Team. She recently graduated from East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science in Child Development. There, she was a member of the nationally ranked ECU Dance Team for four years. Through these experiences, Kelsey has been trained in jazz, tap, ballet, lyrical, hip hop, contemporary, gymnastics. While continuing her education, she has returned to Dance Specialties as an instructor and assistant choreographer for our recreational and competitive programs.
Former member of the Dance Specialties competition team. Ashley graduated from Johnson and Wales University in Charlotte, NC. Earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management. Ashley continues her love of dance by teaching and assisting recreational and competition classes at Dance Specialties. Ashley’s routines have won many awards both regionally and nationally.
Chloe Culbreth has a passion for dance education and works to help students improve their technique, and help build their own unique styles and edge. Chloe recently graduated with her Master’s Degree in Education from The University of Georgia and is happy to return to her hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina. During the day, Chloe is a Professional School Counselor and works to help her students in the areas of academic needs, social/emotional aspects, and career development. Chloe is passionate about helping her students in both the classroom as well as in the dance studio.
Chloe has been dancing for the last 22 years and has trained in all styles but specializes in tap dance. Chloe works alongside her brother, Harrison Culbreth. Together they have worked at some of the top studios in the industry, choreographed national award winning routines, and performed both nationally and internationally together. Chloe also trained for over two decades under one of the industry’s most innovative tap teachers and choreographers, David Mann. Chloe performed in a routine choreographed by Mann, which scored a perfect score and was undefeated for two seasons straight. Chloe is excited to join the Dance Specialties team and to see her students TAP to success!
Harrison Culbreth is an international performer, teacher, choreographer, director, producer and entrepreneur based out of Charlotte, North Carolina. He is a highly accomplished tap artist who has quickly developed his own up-beat, energetic, and distinctive tap style. With a unique blend of heart, drive and admiration for the art, Harrison has become a highly qualified tap instructor throughout the country. Harrison loves to educate and challenge aspiring tappers to reach their fullest potential. He has taught and choreographed top scoring routines at several of the nation’s Top 50 studios, as ranked by Dancer Magazine.
While competing, Harrison completed three consecutive undefeated senior solo seasons before graduating high school. Harrison currently attends college at High Point University and is majoring in Electronic Digital Media and minoring in Theatre & Dance in hopes to pursue his first true love, dance. Most recently, Harrison has had the honor of joining the Applause Talent staff, one of the biggest competition tours in the country. He travels the eastern part of the country co-directing, announcing, teaching and creating choreography for the events.
Harrison has been taught and mentored for over a decade by innovative tap artist David Mann. The highlight of David’s career to date was being named “Teacher of the Year” by Dancer Magazine. Harrison has assisted D-Mann at several top industry Conventions and co-choreographed opening routines for numerous National events throughout the nation.

Carlene’s students have been honored with many awards under her guidance. They have been accepted into the Joffrey Ballet, Hubbard Street Dance Theatre and Rhythmic Circus as well as 5 foot 10 Tap Companies. Carlene has had students go in to perform on Broadway most recently in Willy Wonka and the. Chocolate factory. Numerous students have opened their own dance studios with success.
The Kelle Costume Company and Carlene have been working together for the past 15 years. Carlene is the lead choreographer for the company and is featured in the catalogue which is used across the US by many dance studios.
Jaime has been teaching dance for 21 years. She teaches Jazz, Lyrical, Clogging, Tap, Hip Hop, and Gymnastics. Jaime has won many prestigious awards for teaching and choreography. She also teaches at other studios in the area. Jaime is a very important asset to our Staff at Dance Specialties teaching Gymnastics and Recreational Hip Hop. Married to Timmy Webb and has a beautiful daughter named Berkley. Jaime is attending College and plans on continuing teaching dance and gymnastics and becoming a dental hygienist.
